Hummingbirds are small birds with long, thin bills. The bill, combined with an extendable, bifurcated tongue, allows the bird to feed upon nectar deep within flowers. Their name comes from the fact that they flap their wings so fast (about 80 times per second) that they make a humming noise.Historically, hummingbirds were killed for their feathers.
